WOMEN'S SOUTH
DIVISION
Caradon took on Exeter Culm Vale Hornets in their last home game of the season.
Early pressure saw Caradon take the lead from a strike by Clare Poad. They continued to take control of the game, with some excellent quick passes in midfield between EJ Mullis and Glayne Price.
It was a driving run and accurate pass from Price that saw Poad deftly slot home her second of the day.
Just before half-time, Exeter converted a short corner, with the ball somehow finding its way into the goal... despite a trademark acrobatic dive from birthday girl Helen Delbridge!
Caradon came out after the break determined to build on their advantage and, with growing support on the sidelines, saw their recent training drills pay off with some quick flowing hockey throughout the pitch.
Another smooth short corner routine saw Poad's shot deflected into the top of the net to make it 3-1.
They dominated the second period, with the defence of Ang Delbridge, Mitch Robertson, Claire Brown and captain Sharon Jeffery breaking down play and feeding the ball to midfield.
Strong supporting runs from Amy Greenbank and Jess Dukes on the flanks allowed the ball to be popped around the pitch with ease.
Clever running by Maria Porter threw the Exeter defence and allowed Poad the chance to round off the day in style, bringing the final result to 4-1.
