FOUR play areas have opened after being given a makeover, following a cash injection of £200,000.
Borough farm play area and Cambridge field in Torpoint, Woodland Way, Gunnislake and Culverland Park, Liskeard, were all opened earlier this week after having a re-vamp courtesy of a Big Lottery Fund grant.
Caradon District Council, which looks after 58 play areas across South East Cornwall, hit the jackpot earlier this year when it secured the £200,000 to help transform the four playgrounds and Millbrook's skatepark.
Upgraded
The skatepark was the first to be upgraded in June.
The four other playparks have been kitted out with a mixture of adventure style and traditional play equipment, including swings, roundabouts, springy ride-on toys and multi-play systems, with the equipment varying from site to site.
Cllr Jay Schofield, Caradon's ambassador for young people and sport, said: 'Outdoor play is an important part of a healthy lifestyle for children and young people, and this is a significant investment by Caradon in local play areas.
'Children and parents have been involved in the project right from the start, telling us what they wanted to see in their play areas. Now they have fantastic new facilities to enjoy for years to come.'
