A tea company that says it is taking on the world one cup at a time from its base near Looe has made a £1.5 million investment in an expansion of its factory.
The new production facilities at Cornish Tea and Coffee not only enable the company to produce two million tea bags every day, but it can now guarantee that all its tea bags and packaging are 100 per cent plastic free.
The new equipment also improves capacity for the production of loose leaf tea and Fusion tea bags.
Launched in 2012, Cornish Tea and Coffee is very much a family affair, with three generations of the same family working in it today.
The family first started selling tea and coffee to hotels back in the early part of the 19th century: today they are progressing steadily in the UK market as well as exporting to the USA, Europe, the Falklands – and even China.
Managing director Duncan Bond said: ‘I am incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful team supporting me. Our new considerable investment in the future will help us get to our goal of a turnover of £30m over the next few years.’
