A group of councillors and residents in Saltash are working under the chairmanship of Mrs Sue Hooper to put together a programme of events to commemorate the centenary of the World War One armistice in 1918.
There is a plan to flood the town with red poppies growing in many different places.
A metal statue entitled ‘The Silent Soldier’ has been acquired from The Royal British Legion and it is hoped that it can find a place in the Peace Garden.
If anyone has other thoughts or ideas they are asked to contact Mrs Sue Hooper on [email protected]
Saltash Town Council has approved a grant of £1,000 to support the events.
