Plans have been submitted to place 22 beach huts along the beach at Par Sands, writes Richard Whitehouse, local democracy reporter.
Cornwall Council has submitted a planning application for the small and medium-sized huts.
In a design and access statement the council says: ’Cornwall Council owns and manages a number of beaches throughout the county. On a number of beaches the council does not just own the beach but also the open spaces associated with the location. There is a responsibility for the council to consider how it can sensitively and sustainably improve the commercial offer provided by these spaces. With Cornwall being a popular holiday destination, the beaches are an important part of the local economy.
’Par Sands has an area of land, set back from the beach which is currently under-utilised. Due to the recent success of the project to provide huts at Bude, it is proposed that 22 non-residential beach huts be installed at Par. These huts will be rented on a yearly basis.’
