Plans look at coastal defence

The most comprehensive review of coastal defence issues ever undertaken in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is now complete.

Overseen and promoted by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly coastal group ( the shoreline management plans for Rame Head to Lizard Point and Land's End to Hartland Point take account of natural coastal processes, and of human and other environmental influences and needs.

Information on all aspects of the coastal environment were collected as part of the process and reviewed to present detailed reports on the current state of the Cornish coast.

Findings from these reports were then used as the basis for assessing relative benefits of different coastal defence options for each section of the coastline.

Comments on the plans are invited by June 30 and they will be formerly presented and adopted at a meeting at County Hall, Truro on July 14.
