A TOWN council is seeking a wide range of views on plans to transform a library into a ‘cultural hub’.

Liskeard Town Council will discuss the Cornwall-based Real Ideas Organisation (RIO)’s proposal for the Liskeard Library at a full council meeting today, Tuesday (April 24), before making a recommendation on the planning application to Cornwall Council.

Last week, The Cornish Times reported that RIO, which has an office in Liskeard, hopes to refurbish and reinvigorate the library, with the potential to provide communal working space, a cafe and outdoor courtyard, and a pop-up cinema.

A spokesperson for Liskeard Town Council said: ‘RIO did a presentation at Tuesday’s planning committee and set out where they were coming from, and members of the public who were there asked questions.

‘We feel that the library is such an important issue in the town, it needs the maximum involvement in any feedback the Council gives to Cornwall Council on the proposal.’
