£25,000 has been set aside in the 2016/17 budget by Liskeard Town Council to finance improvements to the Refreshment Room on the first floor of the Public Hall. The council’s architect has produced plans which will see a significant reduction in the size of the pillar in the centre of the room, the removal of the present serving counter, and an extension of the catering area into the current caretaker’s office and store. The aim is for the Public Hall and Refreshment Room to have their own dedicated catering and own separate entrances. As part of this project it is hoped to include a disabled access lift to the Refreshment Room and Public Hall, and a further lift to the Quimperle Room, where provision of a hot drinks facility is also being considered. The architect has reported a quote of £14,319 for provision of a single lift.
