A FORMER bank that has stood empty in Torpoint for more than two years is set to become two new shops.
Plans by owner Richard Burchill to convert the former Barclays Bank building, on Fore Street, to two retail shops on the ground floor, with a self-contained flat above, have been approved by Cornwall Council.
The project will see the property reverting to its previous use, as it housed shops prior to being used as a bank, says agent Malcolm Brock.
The existing car park at the rear of the property will provide parking for the shops and flats, and the proposal includes creating improved access to the first floor accommodation from the rear of the building.
