A PRE-APPLICATION advice submission has been made to Cornwall Council for the demolition of an existing bungalow at Hatt, near Saltash, and the construction of a two to three-storey contemporary dwelling.

The plans are for Roodcroft Bungalow, near the A388, adjacent to a landfill site which is screened by trees and operated by the owner of the bungalow.

The proposal is to construct a visually striking contemporary dwelling while making the most of the outstanding views to the south and east, to incorporate extensive balcony space as well as biodiversity with flat ‘living’ roofs’, to reorganise the entrance to the building and the layout of the main rooms to orientate them towards the outstanding views, to improve the home’s connection to its swimming pool and to cut down on noise from the busy A388 and the landfill operation by replacing timber-framed windows with high performance aluminium framed ones.

By creating a basement structure, the proposal is that additional floor space can be provided while limiting the visual impact of the new building on the surrounding landscape.
