A OUTLINE planning application for 175 new houses on land to the northern edge of Callington has been submitted to Cornwall Council.

The development is being put forward by Peninsula Properties for agricultural land off South Hill Road.

An event was held at Callington Town Hall in February 2015 which gave residents and town councillors the chance to view the draft plans, said the developer.

The application is set to be discussed at a meeting of Callington Town Council on January 19, said town clerk Helen Dowdall.

The Neighbourhood Plan for Callington is currently being formed, and the opinions of residents on areas of the town most and least favoured for new development are being analysed.

‘Very soon we’ll have concrete knowledge of where people feel new development would be best placed,’ said Mrs Dowdall.

‘We know we have a target for new housing within the Cornwall Local Plan, but the location of those houses needs much thought.’

The planning application can be viewed by visiting Cornwall Council’s online planning register and entering the reference PA15/11345.
