PLANS to extend a holiday park have been turned down.

Cornwall Council planners have refused permission for extensions and improvements at Seaview Holiday Village in West Looe, saying the development ‘would fail to conserve and enhance the landscape character and natural beauty of the South Coast Eastern section of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.

The owners had wanted additional lodges, caravans (static and touring) and camping pitches.

They had also proposed converting some chalets to a toilet and shower block, plus access and parking improvements and landscape planting.

Cornwall Council said the proposal would mean the loss to development of approximately five hectares of grassed fields.

Planners felt the introduction of a further 126 chalets and static caravan pitches onto prominent sloping land would be visible from a number of public viewpoints.

Polperro Community Council had strongly objected, and the application drew dozens of comments objecting to the council’s planning register.
