An energy company wishing to build 10 generators at Trerulefoot has lodged an appeal against Cornwall Council’s decision to refuse the scheme.
Murex Power has gone to the National Planning Inspectorate over the refusal of its Short Term Operational Reserve (STOR) facility.
Murex says the installation will provide back-up energy during periods of low generation at the Bake Farm solar farm. As such, the project would support Cornwall’s transition to a renewable energy supply, says the developer.
But Cornwall Council questions the need for the generators to be built in the countryside. It suggests industrial sites in Liskeard or Saltash might be more suited to such a development.
St Germans Parish Council has written to the Planning Inspectorate to outline its concerns.
