A PROPOSAL to build up to 174 houses on a hilltop above West Looe has been put forward by a developer.
The agricultural land lies between Polperro Road, West Looe Hill and West Looe Downs.
The site was mooted for development in 2012 and a pre-application was made to Cornwall Council, but the plans were not taken further.
South West Strategic Developments, the company behind the current scheme, says that the development would contain extensive areas of open space linking the West Looe Downs to the countryside to the west of the site. A quarter of the new houses would be designated ‘affordable’ says the developer.
South West Strategic Developments has circulated a leaflet describing the scheme to neighbouring residents, with the request that people should submit their views to the developer by January 25.
The company says that it has had pre-application discussions with Cornwall Council, and intends to submit an outline application ‘shortly after the public consultation.’ More detail on the scheme can be found by visiting www.thedownslooe.co.uk.
