Torpoint Sports Action Group (TSAG) has moved a step closer to providing a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) for use by Torpoint Community College (TCC) and the community. This would include an all-weather pitch, available for numerous sports from 9am-10pm weekdays and daytime at weekends. Measuring 60m x 40m in size, it would be fenced and floodlit, adjoining the Torpoint and Rame Sports Centre, which is managed by the YMCA. This week TSAG and the YMCA held a consultation meeting with residents of Woodland Way at TCC as they are the people who could be most affected by the MUGA. A dozen residents turned out to hear Chris Goodman, head of PE at TCC, Mark Rose, business manager of the YMCA, and Gary Williams, manager of the sports centre, give an overview of their vision and to hear the residents' views and suggestions. The next step towards the MUGA will be planning and a full public consultation. A usage and development plan will be prepared and then submissions for project funding and a bid to the Football Foundation. It will be four months before a decision is made and, if successful, the MUGA could be in place next year.
