A plan to build 14 semi-detached homes on land off Lanchard Lane in Liskeard, which has prompted a petition of objection, was due to be discussed by Caradon councillors last night (Thursday).

The plan, by the Guinness Trust (South West area) for Caradon owned land, has been recommended for permission - subject to the consideration of revised plans and outstanding responses from consultees. It involves 14 homes in seven semi-detached blocks. Eight units will be three bedroomed, and six will be two bedroomed. If they are developed the houses will be made available for renting, with Caradon holding nomination rights.

Traffic

There have been three letters of objection and a 12 signature petition of opposition. Concerns include impact on existing driveway, poor quality site, excessive density, adverse impact on adjoining land, over-concentration of social housing units and the amount of traffic which would be engendered.

Council officers said that there is a degree of urgency in respect to the application, which is why the matter has been raised with the sub committee at the first available opportunity.

The officers added that the design of the units is simple and attractive, with a painted rendered finish and artificial slates.
