I read on the front page of the Cornish Times last week, that Caradon Council are going to prosecute Roy Perriment over a parking fine which he received when repairing damage to the plant boxes on display in Looe.

If it was not for the likes of Roy Perriment giving their time, using their petrol and cars, Looe would have no "Looe in Bloom".

I don't see any of the Legal Department or Planning Department, who are paid high wages, out giving their free time, but these two departments probably cost more of the ratepayers money than anyone else in their in their dealings.

The cost of prosecuting Mr Perriment will come from the rates and the legal side are only too happy to send letters, all of which cost money threatening prosecution on all sorts of matters; including when you ask a tenant for their rent when they are in arrears the council threaten you with prosecution for harassment.

I feel sure that many of your readers can tell other stories .

As with the Planning Department, they have lost a large number of appeals costing thousands of pounds not only to the people making the application but also to Caradon Council.

As ratepayers, can we afford to have highly paid people making stupid decisions and costing us the ratepayer money?

Perhaps if they were employed on the basis of how many cases or appeals they won and lost it would make a difference whether they were employed at all.

Go for it Roy, stand against them and let them know who pays their wages.

I feel sure that if you have to pay costs, there are a large number of people who know you and would be willing to chip in. I know that I will.
