Pensilva Summer Skittles league

The Gremlins have a game in hand and are currently sitting in seventh place in the table and played two games last Tuesday which means that all 10 teams have now played eight matches each.

In their first encounter, they faced the Hillsecs who also had a game in a hand. After four legs the Gremlins led by one pin, but were the improved side in the second half to win all six points by 34 pins. In their second game, Gremlins faced bottom-placed Golden Girls who, after gaining their first league points last week, were out to carry on earning points. They did just that and after four legs were two points better off as they just held a one pin lead. The second half was also close, but showed the Gremlins win overall by eight pins and four more points which takes them up to a challenging third spot.

After losing 6-0 in their first game, the Hillsecs made two team changes in their second as they faced the Potholers from Lower Middle Hill, But they didn't score so well as Potholers won both halves comfortably and a 37 pin majority, which takes them from sixth spot up to fourth

Quarriers from Quarry Road faced the Middlers and looked for points as they occupy a lowly position and this they did by showing an advantage in both halves and victors by an overall 36 pins.

The league leaders Bodmin Landers faced the Galaxy Four who, looking at the league table, could have checked the Landers' progress but it was not to be as the latter claimed all six points with a 24 pin majority.

The Rendle Tigers have showed good form so so far, and they looked set to take all six points as they were 18 pins to the good after four legs of skittling versus the Rascals but the latter improved to win the second half 131-128 pins to earn two points by gave the Tigers four points and a challenging second spot.

Best scorers on the nights were Andy Hussan (Gremlins) with 77 and 68 pins; Mike Rendle (Tigers) and Richard Rogers (Quarriers) with 72 pins; Ken Jeffery (B. Landers) and Sylvan Pook (Gremlins) with 70 pins; Nigel Hosken (Rascals) and Lynda Jeffery (B. Landers) scored 69 pins; Brian Smith (Potholers), Peter Gaffan (Quarriers) and Brenda Swinburne (Golden Girls) scored 67 pins.
