THOUSANDS of patients have signed up for NHS dental treatment at a new practice in the area. The Tamar Valley Dental Clinic in Kelly Bray will open on November 28, with a large chunk of the 6,000 vacancies now taken. The clinic is situated on the Florence Road Business Park above Art Centre, and is the idea of businessman Ian Wallace. Mr Wallace's colleague Darren Gardiner, who is general manager of Art Centre, said the idea came after noticing a real lack of reasonably-priced dental treatment. 'We started taking people on our books a few months ago after doing a leaflet drop,' said Mr Gardiner. 'We had a steady amount of people come to register, but recently we've had a huge response.' The clinic will have five surgeries, with one dentist already on board to help manage two surgeries. Dr Peter Reichel, originally from Poland, has several years' experience as a dentist in Bath and will be starting work at the end of the month. The surgery will be open from 9am-7pm from Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 9am-5pm. Anyone wanting to register at the clinic will need to attend Art Centre in person before November 28 or sign up at the clinic once it is open.
