There was a surprise in store for Looe GP Dr Chris Fagg when he finished work on Friday – patients and staff got together to wish him a happy retirement! Dr Fagg joined the Looe practice in March, 1975, when his fellow GPs in the town were Dr Hodgekinson and Dr Gates and, at Polperro, Dr Baker. 'I've never regretted coming to Looe and have enjoyed looking after patients in the area,' he said. 'I am very fortunate to have had this job, which I have loved.' Dr Fagg will not be leaving the area but plans to pursue his life-long passion for sailing. 'My wife Jean, whom I married in 1972, is the perfect GP's wife and has been very supportive of me – and she loves sailing too!' said Dr Fagg. 'In fact, before we were married we sailed across the Atlantic together to make sure we got on with each other!' The couple have three children – Duncan, who is a teacher and lives on a barge on the Avon canal at Devizes, Sarah, who is a GP in Exeter, and Ian, who is skipper of Mike McCaine's Swan 60 yacht.
