The mayor-elect of Liskeard is Pat Ambler, the current deputy mayor. Mrs Ambler, a Liberal Democrat and local Methodist preacher, is married to David and has three sons, Darren and David who now live and work away, and Alan who will be sitting his GCSEs at Liskeard school and community college this summer. A housewife, she is well known for her charity work, and has been a member of Liskeard town council for four years. The deputy mayor-elect is Liberal Democrat Tony Powell who, like Pat, was selected at a town council meeting on Monday. He is a father of six, and has three grandchildren, with a fourth expected later in the year. A Liberal Democrat he is married to fellow Liberal Democrat town councillor Jan, and has sat on the town council himself for the past six years. He also represents Liskeard North on the district council. The mayor making ceremony will be held in May.
