Motorists are deserting Cornwall Council car parks since increased parking charges came into effect last week.

These pictures, all taken at 9am yesterday, show that most of the area's major car parks are far from full.

Meanwhile free car parks, such as the one at Thanckes Park in Torpoint and Saltash Road in Callington, are packed.

When the increase in parking charges was originally discussed last year police officers raised concerns that more people choosing to park on residential streets would cause problems.
