THE parents of seven students who vandalised a crowded bus are to pay for the damage.

The students, all aged around 12 and 13, from Callington Community College pushed out the back window of a Western Greyhound bus at around 4pm on Wednesday, December 10.

The route 574 bus travels between Liskeard and Callington and some passengers had to wait in the cold for a replacement bus.

All seven pupils admitted responsibility for the damage after Western Greyhound contacted the school.

Headteacher Paula Ramsden said: 'Behaviour is generally excellent at the school and, on the rare occasion, children get it wrong.

'We dealt with the matter very seriously and all the children involved have learnt about consequences and responsibility and are very sorry for their actions.'

Mark Howarth, managing director of Western Greyhound commended the school, saying: 'The school handled the situation well and were very helpful.

Agreed

'Invoices were sent to parents of those involved by the school who agreed to pay for the damage'.

Miss Ramsden said: 'It was just high jinx that got out of control. They won't do it again.'
