SALTASH Town Regatta committee is looking for a volunteer who can lead the Victorian Parade down Fore Street for their event in June. The woman, who will be the face of the 2008 regatta, will be dressed as renowned 19th century oarswoman, Anne Glanville of Saltash. In the 1850s, Anne was the undisputed champion pilot gig rower, winning races with her ladies' crew in many places, including France. She was a very tall woman who was known for her large hands and the regatta committee is looking for someone who matches that appearance. Anyone who is interested should contact [email protected]">[email protected] or telephone 01752 849340.
