A fleet of 20 took to the water on Saturday in light winds – but, luckily, the breeze built up a little to make for some interesting sailing.
It was good to see eight Mirrors on the start line, which is very encouraging for the junior campaign. Billy Palfrey took an early lead, which he held for the first two rounds before being passed by
Esther Bowdler at the beach mark.
Esther was in front until 50 yards from the finishing line, only for Billy to regain his advantage when a wind-shift left his rival struggling to move.
Philip Godbolt, guesting at the helm of Chough in
father Geoff's absence, was delighted to split the two top Redwings and finish second behind Peter Kinver.
