THE Torpoint and Rame Poppy Appeal was launched at a packed St James Church in Torpoint.
Appeal organiser John Tivnan said that the evening of music, song and ceremony had ‘exceeded all expectations’.
With more than £800 already raised by the concert, this year’s appeal for the Royal British Legion (RBL) has been given a good start.
Four local choirs, Reflections, Carbeile Junior School Choir, the Torpoint Lady Singers and the Rame Peninsula Male Voice Choir, were supported by the Royal Marines Cadets Corps, who began the evening’s programme with a static drum display.
Organist Jonathan Delbridge played during the concert and the audience joined in with a Proms-style chorus of Land of Hope and Glory.
