Staff at Oxfam charity shops have been recognised for their dedication and long service with the presentation of certificates and badges at the Liskeard Royal British Legion.

Volunteers at the Liskeard branch of Oxfam were in attendance, where they received certificates from District Retail Manager, Lynn Burrow. The badges, in bronze, silver and gold were presented for the amount of years served with the organisation. Myrtle Pollard, who could not attend due to illness, was the longest serving volunteer receiving a gold medal for 26 years work for Oxfam.

Store Manager, Lucy McDonald explained that the hard work of these volunteers has helped maintain Oxfam's status as one of the leading charitable organisations.

She said: "The people here have been a tremendous help and their work should be recognised. All we hope for now is that more volunteers of all ages will join in with the good work. There's plenty to do and not just out in the front of the shops serving customers."

While the need for new volunteers is a priority, this was a day for celebration and all the volunteers present expressed their intention of continuing their work into the future. More gold badges may soon be needed!
