TRIBUTES have been paid to 21-year-old Kelly Faulkner, who was brought up in Dobwalls and died in a tragic car crash in Torquay on Sunday. While in Dobwalls, Kelly was fully involved in community life. As well as attending the village's primary school, she was also a member of the local brownies, karate group and sunday school. Kelly's younger sister Emma is buried in the village. Kelly's death left her family 'deeply shocked'. 'Everyone knew her as a legend who had a heart of gold and a bubbly personality. She was a loving and caring person and her car was her pride and joy,' they said. 'Once seen never forgotten, happy memories and loving thoughts will stay in our hearts forever.' Nearly 900 cars and more than 1,400 people paid tribute to Kelly this week by taking to the streets of Torquay and conducting a convoy past the scene of the collision. Kelly's mother Vicki is inviting anyone who knew Kelly to the funeral to be held next Friday, September 2, at The Central Church at Torquay, starting at 1.30pm with the burial starting at 3pm Ogwell Cross, near Newton Abbott. Following the service there will be a wake at The Plough, Buckland, Newton Abbot. People are asked not to wear dark colours. Kelly moved to the Newton Abbot area about seven years ago. The four-car collision took place in Lymington Road, Torquay close to the junction of Upton Road. Kelly's car, a black Citroen Saxo, crossed the carriageway and hit a tree at the edge or the kerb, catching fire. Despite the best efforts of a man who tried to get into the car, Kelly sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two further vehicles sustained moderate damage and the occupants were left shaken. The police believe that the three vehicles had all been travelling in the same direction along Lymington road towards the town centre. Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the crash to contact them on 08452 777 444.
