FAMILIES stepped out on a 'Type 1 – Onesie walk' in Torpoint to raise funds and awareness on World Diabetes Day.
Together with a coffee morning and a raffle at the Trevorder Family Centre in the town, the event raised more than £300 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Behind the event was Stephanie-Ashford Brown, whose four-year-old son Haylyn was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two years ago, on World Diabetes Day itself.
Up until a year ago, Haylyn had to have injections up to eight times a day.
'It's not easy for him, but he's so brave,' said Stephanie.
'Now he's on an insulin pump, which regulates his insulin for him. He's happy – and he takes it in his stride.'
