Former public toilets in Downs Road, Looe, could be given a new lease of life – as a handyman's workshop and store. Looe Town Council has asked Caradon District Council to consider leasing the former conveniences adjoining West Looe Cemetery to enable it to be used as a workshop and store. Caradon's cabinet will be asked next week to grant the town council a ten-year lease on the building at a peppercorn rent of £1, on the basis that it assumes responsibility for repairs and legal and administrative costs. Councillors have been told that the site is covered by a covenant restricting its use to activities in connection with the nearby cemetery, but that former owners West Looe Town Trust had agreed to release the restriction to enable the change of use to take place.
