Police have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries as the victim of a suspected attempted murder in Millendreath last week remains critically ill in Derriford Hospital.

A police spokesman said yesterday that the 57-year-old woman remained in a stable condition with a serious head injury, but added that due to the serious nature of the incident officers were conducting house-to-house enquiries throughout Millendreath.

The major crime team is continuing to investigate the shooting of the woman.

Police confirmed a potential witness they had been seeking in connection with the attack had been identified.

They said that a 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder had been released without charge, pending further police investigations, while a 66-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender had been released on police bail until December 16 pending further enquiries, as had a 47-year-old arrested on the same charge. All three are from Looe.

The incident came to light last Monday when police were called to a property in Looe by ambulance crews who were treating a woman suffering a head injury.

Officers, some armed, investigated reports that the woman had been assaulted in Millendreath car park near Looe overnight.
