FORE Street in Saltash will be closed to traffic from 7am to 6pm on May 5 (tomorrow) to allow the annual May Fair to be held in the street.
The area from the mini roundabout to the Guildhall will also be closed for the event on Sunday May 6 from 8.30am to 2pm, as will St Stephens Road to the junction of Beatrice Avenue.
Thanks to the committee for their commitment to the four-day Fair, to run from today (Friday), until May 7, has been given by Committee chairman, John Poole. In his message in this year's programme he praised Margaret Haynes, who died in December and was secretary and committee member for over 20 years. He thanked all traders, businesses, pubs and clubs who have supported the event through advertising and sponsorship, and added: 'As always we still need new members on the Committee. If you are interested then please contact any Committee member.'
Committee members for this year are Peter Carvell, Malcolm Down, Ian Carvell, Neil Carvell, Gerald Dinnis, Terry Meany, Elaine Meany, Mr Poole, Mary Scott, Bernard Scott, Kevin Stephens, Matthew Oakes, Richard Poppe, Pat Lewis, Pauline Lewis, Rob Adams, Peter Stephens, Scott Gale, Peter Dickerson and Nicky Carvell with Chris Wiseman a co-opted member. The mayor, Bryan Preston, is the president.
