Caradon District Council has served a notice prohibiting further tipping at Bay View Farm near Looe following complaints from members of the public. The tipping site, which occupies a prominent hillside site overlooking Looe Bay, is visible from the town itself and the notice requires the landowners to stop using the land as a dumping ground for soil, hardcore, metal, concrete, tarmac and other waste materials that have been brought to the area from other locations. Caradon has been monitoring the site over a period of months and has already secured the removal of a number of discarded lorry bodies from the farm. An enforcement notice has also recently been served on the site owners requiring them to remove shipping containers from the area.
