DAVE Holford, a member of Looe's Christmas Lighting Committee, says that the receding flood waters have revealed the town's intention not to be beaten by the forces of nature. As well as effecting repairs and drying itself out, Looe is also preparing itself for the festive period. Businesses have been approached to look even more enticing this year to show everyone that Looe is the place to shop, to stay, eat, drink and be joyful! The number of houses that add their own festive lighting to the scene increases each year, and it is hoped that even more will be 'switching on' for 2004. Adds David 'with no parking problems in winter, plus the warmth of the festive appearance and the celebrations to include Santa's arrival on December 3, the torchlight procession, church events and carol concerts, Looe is the place to be. No flood could ever dampen our spirits!'
