A man who had a hair-raising top-to-toe shave for charity has raised almost £700 so far for Macmillan Cancer Support. Nigel La Lau, known as Sideshow to his friends for his large mop of curly hair, had especially grown his beard and moustache ahead of the fundraising event at the King's Arms in Torpoint. Nigel is now minus all the hair on his head and face – and other areas – as the challenge included a full body wax. Taking on the role of barber were Angel Garbutt, of Dudes Modern Barbers in Plymouth, and Maria Beach, a hairdresser from Looe, who also works at Dudes. Following the salon treatment, regulars and guests at the King's Arms tucked into a buffet meal. Nigel decided to organise the charity event because it is 10 years since his father lost his battle with cancer.
