A Lego model of one of Roald Dahl’s best-loved characters has been unveiled at the Eden Project.

The 8,850-brick model of the intrepid hero from Billy and the Minpins was created to mark Roald Dahl Day (September 13).

It comes as a new edition of the iconic storyteller’s last book is published by Penguin Random House with - for the first time - illustrations by the celebrated artist Sir Quentin Blake.

The Lego build of Billy took 47 hours to construct and is one of six Roald Dahl child heroes appearing in locations across the UK.

All the models have been created by Duncan Titmarsh - the UK’s only certified Lego professional builder - and his team at the Bright Bricks workshop in Bordon, Hampshire.

Billy will remain at Eden’s Mediterranean Biome for two months and visitors can see him for free with general admission.

They can share their pictures of Billy using #LegoBilly and #RoaldDahlDay on social media.
