Service to the community in South East Cornwall has been recognised in the New Year's Honours list, with local people being awarded the MBE.

Fowey harbourmaster Mike Sutherland is honoured for his services to the ports industry along with Constance Zena Jones for her voluntary service to the community in Rilla Mill.

Brian Hamilton Williams from Torpoint receives the MBE for his voluntary work on behalf of the RNLI.

The Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall, Steven Otter is awarded the Queen's Police Medal and said on Wednesday: 'I am delighted to receive this prestigious award and I am very privileged to have been given the opportunity to be the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.

'I am extremely proud of what my officers and staff are doing to deliver a high quality policing service to the people of Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.'
