MARINE volunteers in Looe are encouraging people to join them for the first beach clean-up of the year – and to make a New Year’s resolution to help protect the environment.
The event, to be held on Sunday (January 3) will start at 2pm in the area below the coastguard station at Hannafore, said Gill Bridges of the Looe Marine Conservation Group.
As well as tidying up on the shore, the group will be conducting a marine litter survey to contribute data to the Marine Conservation Society. Some very interesting items can sometimes be found among the plastic, rope and other detritus collected by volunteers.
