An application for 54 homes to be built on a site at Orchard Park, Saltash, has been given the go-ahead by Caradon councillors.

The decision follows outline planning approval which was granted in September 1997. The scheme, by Corporate Builders Ltd also includes accompanying infrastructure. The green light was given by Caradon's planning sub committee (east).

A unanimous vote approved the application that will take in 11 'affordable units' which will be available through the Tamar Housing Society.

One condition attached to the approval is the provision of children's play areas.

Four of the homes are to be 'user friendly' for wheelchair residents, and the whole area will be landscaped, while mature trees currently on the site will be retained.
