Liskeard’s new priest in charge is to be the current chaplain of Devonport Naval Base, the Reverend Steve Morgan.
The Bishop of Truro, the Rt Rev Tim Thornton, made the announcement last week.
Mr Morgan will be priest in charge of the benefice of Liskeard and St Keyne. He will be licensed at a special service in St Martin’s Church on Monday, May 8, at 7.30pm, followed by a reception in the church hall.
He is replacing the Rev Tony Ingleby, who retired last August after 10 years as Liskeard’s priest in charge.
Mr Morgan will also have care of Dobwalls United Church within the benefice, which has now extended to include the former church parish of St Pinnock.
St Pinnock’s historic church was closed last year and the scheme to combine its parish with Liskeard has been approved by the Church Commissioners.
Responsibility for the redundant church building will pass to the Truro Diocese Church Uses Committee.
