The revamped Lord Eliot has been officially opened as the Eliot House Hotel by its original owner. Jack Bedford, who founded the Eliot House hotel and restaurant in 1971, cut the ribbon, accompanied by his wife Audrey, new owners Derek and Helen Gillbard, and mayor Tony Powell.
The prominent building on Castle Street, has been closed and boarded up since December 2007, when former owner John Lundon's licence to serve alcohol on the premises was revoked.
