The dearth of public telephone boxes in Liskeard, which began last year when a number of kiosks were taken away to make way for work to begin on the Parade scheme, has almost come to an end.
For around a year the centre of town has been left without a public telephone box - which meant those alighting from buses and seeking to phone for a taxi were thwarted in their efforts. Now new boxes have been installed by the passport photo machine at the Post Office, and next to the entrance to the Post Office yard. There is only one problem - the actual telephones have yet to be installed.
