A LARGE crowd gathered on Cawsand beach for the naming and launch of a new training boat for the Rame Gig Club.

The name of the new gig, Maker Wave, came from a competition at Fourlanesend Primary School and the joint winners, Olly and Jack Welch, were presented with a club T-shirt each as their winning prizes.

The gig, the 114th to be built by Trevor Deaken, was blessed by the Rev Jill Murray, of Cawsand Congregational Church, and officially named by Pat Hocking, the last surviving founder member of the club, helped by his granddaughter Tegan.
