Sir Robert Hicks and June Hackett (ALLDIS) recently attended the opening day at Liskeard's ECHO Centre of the new local Disability Information Advice Network Outreach Centre. They presented certificates to several people who attend the centre who have been receiving training in key skills of advice and guidance over the past 12 months.

The Network's main office is based in Hayle and has been providing a free and confidential service to people with disabilities and their carers offering advice, support and information for the past three years.

The intial training has been provided by Jacqui Carlton of Cornwall and Devon Careers, with the students undertaking further vocational training at NVQ level 2 in Services Support provided by Truro College. ECHO's Link into Learning tutor Helen Cadiot, has facilitated the Advisors acquisition of IT skills working partnership with the training providers.

Liskeard's ECHO Centre is a purpose built day care facility and resource centre that offers a wide range of services and activities to people with disabilities in the Caradon area, and its aim is to provide a quality service that empowers and promotes independence.
