In an attempt to combat the many problems caused by un-neutered cats, the Callington Cats Protection League branch is running a free neutering campaign from April 3 until May 31.

The branch has 100 vouchers, covering the full cost of neutering, for the first 100 local people who apply, while stocks last.

Lynda Dawe, from the Callington branch, said that the branch is running this scheme in the hope that more people will be responsible and neuter their cats. Callington CPL has enlisted the help of local vets in Tavistock, Callington, Saltash and Liskeard, who have all agreed to participate in their scheme.

Lynda explained that neutered cats are less likely to catch life-threatening diseases and are less likely to wander or get into fights.

Un-castrated toms are likely to spray to mark their territory with very strong smelling urine, and these are the type of cats more likely to get killed on the roads.
