May I, through your letters page, suggest that whoever reports "abandoned" and "illegal" vehicles on the Sunrising and Churchlands Estates in Looe, to Caradon District Council, should purchase a new pair of glasses to properly check tax discs.
On 14th March I received a letter from Caradon Council, concerning my car, which neither abandoned nor illegal, threatening its removal from Churchlands middle car park after seven days, and be invoiced for costs incurred by Caradon Council for its removal and destruction.
Having telephoned Caradon's Environmental Services Unit, I was informed that my car was reported as abandoned on 17th February 2000 - a fact I find particularly amusing, as I re-licensed the car at the end of January for a full 12 months, and correctly displayed the tax disc on the windscreen.
The car has been used on almost a daily basis until it broke down and was towed away by my mechanic for repair two weeks ago, where it has remained, undergoing a service. As a mother of four, one of whom is disabled, I found the letter particularly distressing as my car is a necessity.
Therefore I would like to suggest to the busybody who reported my car, that they kindly get their facts straight in future before they cause undue distress to anyone else.
