A music festival has been cancelled for the second year running.

Ticket sales had been limited for the Black Rock Festival, which was set to be staged in Millendreath later this month, said the organisers, and so, with just under a month to go, the decision was taken to pull the event.

In 2015, an objection from a local resident over predicted noise levels at the festival led to a strict noise restriction being placed on its licence.

At that time, organisers felt that the restriction would lead to a frustratingly quiet festival for the audience – and with further objections always a possibility, the event was cancelled.

This year’s festival had been set to take place over the weekend of July 23-24, with Cantaloop and State of Undress joining local bands, including Sergeant Flint, James Shead and the Huckleberry Finns, in the line-up. A spokesperson for the volunteers who organise the event said that ticket refunds are being issued.
