Looe’s new-look museum has been officially been opened by Mayor Councillor Armand Toms.

Watched by a crowd summoned by town crier, Roger Bennett, and a strong turnout of volunteer museum guides, the Mayor cut the tape to mark the start of the 2017 season  in time to welcome Easter visitors.

Once inside, visitors were able to see the results of the hard work put in during the winter by the museum team.

New lighting has been designed to pick out the reorganised displays, and there are new cabinets and updated labelling help to tell the stories behind the exhibits.

Some of these stories have been brought following conversations with older Looe residents who have been telling the museum team about the life and times evoked by the various exhibits.

There is now also a lot for children to do and enjoy.

In this the museum team has had help from the heritage and museum design consultancy Scribble & Nonsense, and say they have more ideas in the pipeline.
