A way forward is emerging on how to preserve Callington’s unique mural trail.

The paintings first began to appear around 15 years ago and the latest, a depiction of Callington’s First World War soldiers, was created only last year.

At one stage, the Town Council considered removing the murals altogether, as some of the pieces have fallen into a shabby state.

However, the decision was taken earlier this year to maintain and, if possible, enhance the art works.

A mural working party has formed, and its members will now contact professional artists, heritage experts and grant funding bodies, with a view to taking the project forward.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 3, at 7.30pm at Callington Town Hall. For further details and to get involved call 01579 382705.
