Drivers intending to travel on the M4 near Bristol this weekend are advised to plan their journeys ahead of full overnight closures while Network Rail carries out work on the railway line over the motorway.

The electrification upgrade work involves installing overhead line equipment on Blue Bridge between junctions 19 and 20, and will be carried out under overnight closures of both eastbound and westbound carriageways, starting on Friday, 3 November.

The motorway will be closed from 11pm on Friday 3 November until 7am on Saturday 4 November, from 9pm on the Saturday to 8am on Sunday 5 November and from 10pm on Sunday night until 5am on Monday 6 November.

Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place, and Highways England is advising drivers to allow extra time for their journeys during the weekend closures.
